LANDA
A mobility intelligence tool for international students considering Sweden. Not a decision-maker — a mirror that reflects how your profile aligns with the realities of building a life in the country.
What is Landa?
Deciding to study in Sweden is one of the most consequential decisions a non-Swedish person can make. The costs are real, the expectations are high, and the gap between what people imagine and what they find can be significant. Landa exists to help close that gap before you commit.
The tool analyses your profile against seven dimensions that have been shown to matter most for international students building a sustainable life in Sweden. Your score and personalised profile are generated from a model grounded in the lived experience of people who have navigated this journey themselves.
While the tool is built with African students primarily in mind, it is relevant and useful for any non-EU international student considering Sweden.

About Landa
What this tool is, how it works, and who built it.
The idea
Landa was built out of a simple observation: many students from Africa and non-EU regions make the decision to study in Sweden with very little structured guidance grounded in real, lived experience. The information that exists is either too generic, too optimistic, too pessimistic, or too focused on the academic side of the journey while ignoring the harder question — what does it actually take to settle here and build a life?
This tool attempts to answer that question honestly. It does not tell you whether to go. It holds up a mirror and shows you how your current profile aligns with the country's realities, based on the collective experience of people who have lived it.
The model
Your profile is assessed across seven dimensions. The weight each dimension carries was determined by aggregating the judgments of international students and graduates with direct experience of Sweden. Intra-dimension scoring reflects editorial judgment informed by research into Sweden's job market, immigration system, and social environment.
| Dimension | Weight | What it captures |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition Security | 27% | How fully your tuition is funded going in |
| Language Willingness | 17% | Openness to learning Swedish |
| City | 16% | The employment characteristics of your study location |
| Living Cost Buffer | 13.5% | Financial runway for living expenses |
| Course Marketability | 11.5% | Field demand in Sweden's labour market |
| Working Partner | 8% | Whether a working partner provides financial support |
| Conviction | 7% | Clarity of purpose about the decision |
Limitations
No model captures the full complexity of a person's situation. Landa does not account for your professional experience, your personal network, your psychological resilience, your family circumstances, or the countless other variables that shape how someone's story in a new country unfolds. The score is a starting point for reflection, not a verdict.
What's coming
Landa currently focuses on Sweden. We are building toward a multi-country platform grounded in the lived experience of people who have moved and settled across the globe. The model you see here will expand to support mobility decisions to other countries, with each assessment calibrated to local realities and built on collective insights from those who have been there.
Privacy and data
Landa collects assessment responses to improve the tool and understand how different profiles are using it. Responses are stored securely and are never shared with third parties. This tool has no relationship with the Swedish Migration Agency or any government body. Your responses inform research to strengthen the model, but are never used to identify you individually.

Dare Abinde
I built Landa because I am living the experience this tool is designed to inform. As an international student from Nigeria navigating Sweden's systems, job market, and social fabric, I wanted to create something honest and grounded that could help the people coming after me make a better-informed decision before they commit.
What I do
I work across Interaction and Service Design as a researcher and product thinker. I have a strong commitment to genuinely user-centred and data-driven product design and development. I research and build tools and systems that address real problems for real people.
If you are interested in collaborating, discussing research, or exploring opportunities to work together on projects that matter, I would love to hear from you.
